Bandos can be a very profitable kill, but this article shows you how to kill him and gain some money along the way.
The Bandos Boss is a very profitable monster to kill but he is a very powerful monster and should not be underestimated. The Bandos boss, General Graardor, has 3 bodyguards who also fight a long side him, these bodyguards are: Grimspike (range), Steelwill (magic) and Strongsack (melee).
General Graardor is your main threat as he deals the most damage using a melee onslaught (one target) and a range attack (everyone in the room).
If you are going as a party then you need at least one tank and one attacker. The role of the tank(s) is to take the bulk of the damage for the party where as the role of the attacker(s) is to inflict as much damage to General Graardor and his bodyguards.
If you are going to be a tanker then you should have at least 90 defence, 90 hitpoints and 43 prayer. Since you will be the subject of General Graardor’s melee onslaught and range attack you will need equipment that has very good range defence and melee defence. Please note: regardless of what role you will be playing you need to equip an item belonging to: Armadyl, Zamorak and Bandos (you don’t need a Saradomin item as you don’t meet any of Saradomin’s minions).
If you are going to be an attacker then you should have at least 70 defence, 80 attack, 80 strength, 75 hitpoints and 43 prayer. Since the tanker will be taking most of the damage the attacker can have equipment that is more geared towards attack and strength but you will still need a good range defence as General Graardor’s range attacks everyone in the room.
Picture Source. This is what General Graardor looks like.
Tanker Setup (first option is better than the second or third):
- Helm – Verac’s Helm / Helm of Neitz
- Necklace – Amulet of Fury / Amulet of Glory / God Stole
- Cape – Fire Cape / Soul Wars Cape / Skill Cape (t)
- Weapon – Whip
- Shield – Dragonfire Shield / Toktz (obby shield)
- Body – Torag’s Platebody / Bandos Chestplate
- Legs – Verac’s Plateskirt / Bandos Tassets
- Gloves – Gloves (barrows) / God Vambraces
- Boots – Dragon Boots / Bandos Boots
- Ring – Berserker Ring / Warrior Ring
Attacker Setup:
- Helm – Helm of Neitz / Torag’s Helm
- Necklace – Amulet of Fury / Amulet of Glory
- Cape – Fire Cape / Soul Wars Cape / Skill Cape (t)
- Weapon – Godsword / Whip
- Shield (if using whip) – Rune Defender / Dragonfire Shield / Toktz (obby shield)
- Body – Bandos Chestplate / Torag’s Platebody
- Legs – Bandos Tassets / Torag
- Gloves – Gloves (barrows) / God Vambraces
- Boots – Dragon Boots / Bandos Boots
- Ring – Berserker Ring / Warrior Ring
For the attacker I have suggested a Godsword and there are 4 different Godswords (Saradomin, Armadyl, Bandos and Zamorak) all 4 have the same stats but different specials.
- The Saradomin Godsword uses 50% of the bar and heals half of the damage dealt and 25% of the damage onto prayer.
- The Armadyl Godsword hits 25% harder for 50% of the bar.
- The Bandos Godsword special hit drains stats from the target starting with defence and hits 10% harder, this uses up 50% of the bar.
- The Zamorak Godsword freezes the target for a few seconds, this uses up 50% of the bar.
I would suggest the Bandos Godsword as it has a good special as it will quicken up the process of killing General Graardor and his bodyguards, the Bandos Godsword is also the cheapest Godsword on the G.E.
Size of Teams.
- All combat levels around 60 (with the required 70 strength to get in) could go with a team of 8 – 11, but they will a good tank to take the bulk of the damage.
- All combats levels around 70 could do it with 5 people plus a good tank and could last a couple of rounds.
- All combat levels around 80 could do it with 3 people and a good tank.
- All combat levels around 90, at this point I would suggest to start duoing or even soloing (if you have enough experience fighting Bandos)
Please note: pures are going to have a really tough time doing Bandos, so I would highly suggest going with high level teams or getting your other combat levels up.
Strategy.
The tank always goes in first using protect from melee and starts attacking General Graardor. Then the rest of team come in protecting from range and attack General Graardor. No matter what kill General Graardor before attacking the bodyguards. Once General Graardor is dead the ranger (if you have one) attacks Steelwill while protecting from magic. The rest of the team attack Strongsack and then Grimspike (if you don’t have a ranger or the ranger has not killed Steelwill then attack Steelwill). Then pick up your drops and get ready for the next round.
Well done you have just killed the Bandos Boss.
